Chocolate Avocado Mousse Recipe
Love avocado? I do too, and besides being one of the Top 10 Power Foods us women (ok, and men) need, avocado is also great for your skin and other anti-aging needs. Here’s why: 3.5 oz. of avocado has 15 grams of healthy fats, high levels of 6 different vitamins and potassium, and no cholesterol or sodium! When you take an avocado, add dates, coconut, vanilla and, oh yes, cocoa then blend into a smooooth concoction, well this makes this an irresistible treat! I know! It is called Chocolate Avocado Mousse! I discovered this decadent desert at Darbster, a raw, vegan restaurant that makes the most amazing, tasty food. The food is so flavorful, even meat eater’s love dining there! Now, if you can’t get to Darbster to get this chocolate avocado mousse, allow me to bring the mousse to you…at least the recipe! See below.... Enjoy! Ingredients:
• 2 medium sized ripe Hass avocados • 1/3 cup raw cacao powder (add more if you like) • 5 fresh pitted, chopped dates • ¼ cup nut milk, coconut milk or filtered water • 1tsp natural extract or pure vanilla bean powder • Pinch of unrefined sea salt
Soak the dates in spring water or nut milk for 10-30 min.
Add avocado meat, dates, milk, vanilla, and salt and cacao powder.
Blend until smooth.
Might need a bit more liquid to facilitate blending and to scrape down the sides of the blender.
Doctor up the recipe to match your taste buds, like I do by serving with dark chocolate chunks and coconut on top. Or adding more dates, more chocolate or more salt to bring out more sweet.
Makes 2-4 servings, depending upon avocado size and your serving size.
