Slow Churned Ice Cream

Slow Churned Ice Cream

Do you crave ice cream more now that the warmer weather is finally here? I know I do, especially when the heat and humidity really kick up here in South Florida. But of course, ice cream is loaded with fat, sugar, and calories. Well, there an alternative that is friendlier to your bathing suit. It’s slow-churned ice cream. Slow-churned ice cream has one-third fewer calories and half the fat than that of premium ice cream. How is that possible you ask? Just like great grandma and her hand churned ice cream from the bucket, more air is incorporated into “churned” ice cream when it’s made. Lower temperatures are used in the process which can help to make the ice cream rich and creamy! Plus helps to cut the fat! Dryers or Edy’s (depending upon where you live in the nation) is a good choice. They also have a lighter version of this low calorie treat where they use a combo of nonfat milk and milk to get the rich creamy taste.
